Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is on 7 Feb 2023.

Technology has evolved dramatically in the last 20 years, creating huge benefits. However, it’s also exposed us to many risks with real-world impacts. This is why online safety awareness is so important.

The theme for Safer Internet Day is:

  • Connect  safely and with purpose – by keeping apps and devices secure and using social media in positive ways.
  • Reflect  before we act – by taking a moment to consider how what we do and say online may affect others.
  • Protect  ourselves with knowledge – by telling family, friends or colleagues about eSafety and how we can help.

What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day is a global event that brings together communities, families, schools and organisations from more than 200 countries to help create safer online spaces.
While technology is evolving and making live easier, it also comes with risks that can have real-world impacts. This makes learning about online safety even more important.

The eSafety Commissioner is the lead in Australia for Safer Internet Day.

Resources for schools

Teachers can access virtual classrooms and offline interactive activities for all year groups. The focus of this day is to celebrate good digital citizenship skills and knowledge in our schools.
