Grade C
Lindsey
This response demonstrates a developing discussion of the features of a film and attempts to interpret the use of these. There is a developing ability to communicate a personal opinion and this is supported by well-chosen elements of the film. There is evidence of increasing ability to control the structure and organisation of ideas, but there is some inconsistency in the control of language. This response demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard at the end of the course.
Jo
This response demonstrates a developing understanding of the elements of film and makes an attempt to discuss the effectiveness of some relevant features. There is evidence of a developing understanding of the conventions of a film review, including personal recommendations and a star rating. However, ideas could be organised more effectively and cohesively, and there is variable control of language. This response demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard at the end of the course.
Grade D
Shane
This response demonstrates a basic understanding of the conventions of a film review. There is some attempt to present a point of view about the film, but the discussion of ideas remains undeveloped. The response would be strengthened by exploring aspects of the film beyond the plot and basic references to special effects. This response demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of the course.
Kim
This response demonstrates a basic understanding of the conventions of a film review. There is limited control of language features, paragraphing and spelling. This response demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of the course.
Grade E
Reece
This response demonstrates an elementary knowledge of the film and includes a simple plot summary. The response displays a limited control of language, which impacts on the development and communication of ideas. This response demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade E standard at the end of the course.
