Marking guidelines
Marking guidelines are developed with the exam paper and are used by markers to guide their marking of a student's response. The table shows the criteria with each mark or mark range.
Sample answers may also be developed and included in the guidelines to make sure questions assess a student's knowledge and skills, and guide the Supervisor of Marking on the expected nature and scope of a student's response. They are not intended to be exemplary or even complete answers or responses.

Feedback on written exam
Students should:
- ensure they explain the how and why, distinguish positive and negative aspects, and apply to a specific scenario or example when responding to questions requiring extra depth
- communicate using appropriate ICT terminology, relevant to the question.
Students should expect:
- to respond to a range of questions requiring different levels of depth
- to make reference to relevant legislation, industry bodies and workplace health and safety
- to address the context of the questions by providing relevant ICT examples in the workplace
- questions to be of varying difficulty and be guided by the marks allocated for depth of response.
Students can prepare for this examination by:
- practising the application of workplace examples to ICT scenarios
- practising troubleshooting strategies to resolve ICT issues
- knowing the appropriate industry bodies and their roles
- knowing current ICT practices, terminology, technologies and workplace health and safety
- practising past HSC examination questions from past papers, referring to the marking guidelines.
In better responses, students were able to:
- have depth in their answers using relevant justifications or explanations
- include relevant ICT examples which were linked to the question context
- use specific ICT terminology to improve detail of response
- give unambiguous responses clearly addressing the question.
