Marking guidelines
Marking guidelines are developed with the exam paper and are used by markers to guide their marking of a student's response. The table shows the criteria with each mark or mark range.
Sample answers may also be developed and included in the guidelines to make sure questions assess a student's knowledge and skills, and guide the Supervisor of Marking on the expected nature and scope of a student's response. They are not intended to be exemplary or even complete answers or responses.
Marking feedback

Use the feedback to guide preparation for future exams. Feedback includes an overview of the qualities of better responses. Feedback may not be provided for every question.
Feedback on written exam
Candidates showed strength in these areas:
- comparing television and internet as sources of weather information (Q18)
- identifying a hazard, the associated risks and how to control the risk (Q19).
Candidates need to improve in these areas:
- understanding the meaning of the term integrated pest management and outlining three valid strategies to be used in an integrated pest management program (Q16)
- describing the difference between the terms weather and climate (Q18a)
- outlining the key stages of risk control rather than risk assessment (Q19a).
Candidates showed strength in these areas:
- explaining how to ensure a safe and productive work environment when expanding the workforce.
Candidates need to improve in these areas:
- explaining how to maintain quality assurance and productivity when expanding the workforce.
Candidates showed strength in these areas:
- naming two disorders/diseases/parasites and describing signs and symptoms for each (Q22 and Q23).
Candidates need to improve in these areas:
- describing the steps to follow for preparing, treating and recording treatment details (Q22).
