Performance band descriptions for Armenian Continuers
HSC performance band descriptions for Armenian Continuers summarise the knowledge, understanding and skills typically demonstrated by students at each band level. NESA uses these holistic descriptions to report a student's level of achievement in the HSC exam.
Band 6
The typical performance in this band:
- communicates information and ideas effectively and consistently for a range of purposes, contexts and audiences
- sustains communication fluently with very high accuracy
- manipulates language authentically and creatively to convey meaning
- discusses, substantiates and justifies opinions and ideas insightfully from personal, community and global perspectives
- demonstrates highly developed skills in evaluating and synthesising a range of texts
- demonstrates extensive knowledge and understanding of the interrelationship between language, culture and identity.
Band 5
The typical performance in this band:
- communicates information and ideas effectively for a range of purposes, contexts and audiences
- sustains communication fluently with high accuracy
- manipulates language with some authenticity and creativity to convey meaning
- discusses, substantiates and justifies opinions and ideas from personal, community and global perspectives
- demonstrates well-developed skills in evaluating and synthesising a range of texts
- demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of the interrelationship between language, culture and identity.
Band 4
The typical performance in this band:
- communicates information and ideas appropriately for familiar purposes, contexts and audiences
- communicates with sound accuracy
- manipulates language to convey meaning
- discusses opinions and ideas from personal, community and/or global perspectives
- demonstrates sound skills in interpreting and comparing texts
- demonstrates sound understanding of the interrelationship between language, culture and identity.
Band 3
The typical performance in this band:
- communicates some information and/or ideas appropriately
- uses familiar language structures to convey meaning
- expresses opinions and/or ideas from a personal and/or community and /or global perspective
- demonstrates basic skills in interpreting texts
- demonstrates basic understanding of connections between language, culture and identity.
Band 2
The typical performance in this band:
- communicates using simple language
- identifies some information in texts
- demonstrates limited understanding of connections between language, culture and identity.
Band 1
Performance reported as Band 1 indicates that the minimum standard expected was not demonstrated.
