Amendment to the existing Stage 6 Automotive Curriculum Framework syllabus for 2022
(Official notice NESA 33/21)
The Automotive Curriculum Framework based on AURv5 has been amended to allow access to qualifications and units of competency from AURv6.1. Registered training organisations (RTOs) are responsible for any gap training to meet the performance criteria and knowledge evidence requirements detailed in units of competency for qualifications based on AURv6.1.
The Amendment to the existing Stage 6 Automotive Curriculum Framework syllabus for 2022 must be read in conjunction with the Automotive syllabus based on AURv5 (final year of delivery with Year 12, 2022).
The Amendment must be followed where students commenced the Automotive (240 indicative hour) course in 2021 with an enrolment in Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation and are completing the course in 2022, as well as for students who want to undertake the 240-hour course in one year in 2022 with an enrolment in Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation.
Students continuing a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBA/T) in 2022 with an enrolment in:
- AUR20516 Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology
- AUR30316 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
- AUR30616 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
have the option to use the extended learner transition (to 10 December 2022) and continue the course(s) as outlined in the ‘old’ (existing) Automotive syllabus based on AURv5, or transition to the new qualification through the Amendment.
Students completing the Automotive (240 indicative hours) course in 2022 through the Amendment, will be eligible to sit for the 2022 Automotive HSC examination and count the results from the examination towards their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
The 2022 HSC exam for Automotive will be based on the HSC Content (focus areas) from the ‘old’ (existing) syllabus.
Schools and colleges should consult with their school system and/or RTO regarding this amendment and delivery of courses from the Automotive Curriculum Framework for all their automotive students in 2022.
