Amendment – Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus
(NESA News)
NESA has amended the Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus following the release of version 2.2 of the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package on training.gov.au (2 March 2023).
No impact on HSC courses and their requirements. No changes to HSC Content.
The cover page of the syllabus and associated documents now reference SITv2.2.
Updated performance band descriptions for HSC VET exams

NESA has updated the performance band descriptions for Hospitality.
Effective from the 2024 HSC exam.
Revised Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus

NESA has revised the Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework Syllabus following the release of version 2 (10 June 2022) and version 2.1 (9 September 2022) of the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package on training.gov.au.
The revised syllabus and support materials based on SITv2.1 are now available. New course numbers are detailed in the syllabus. A summary of changes is listed below.
Implementation begins from 2023 with Year 11. The first HSC exam based on the revised syllabus will be in 2024.
Students who commenced a Hospitality course in 2022 and are completing the course in 2023, will continue the course as outlined in the ‘old’ Hospitality syllabus (final year of delivery with Year 12, 2023).
Students who want to undertake the 240-hour Hospitality course in one year in 2023 will also complete the course as outlined in the ‘old’ syllabus.
This is in line with Australian Skills Quality Authority’s (ASQA) approval of an extended learner transition period for qualification pathways from SITv1.3 in the ‘old’ syllabus until 31 January 2024.
Any student wanting to sit for the 2023 HSC exam must complete the 240-hour course from the ‘old’ syllabus.

Update to Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus

NESA has updated the Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus for Year 11 2022, following the release of SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package version 1.3 (8 April 2022) on training.gov.au.
There is no change to HSC Content.
The updated syllabus based on SITv1.3 is now available. Effective immediately.
Summary of change:
- HSC elective units of competency (Table 6) – HLTAID011 Provide First Aid supersedes and is not equivalent to HLTAID003 Provide first aid.
Registered training organisations (RTOs) are responsible for any gap training needed to meet the performance criteria and knowledge evidence requirements detailed in units of competency.
NESA has published support materials to assist RTOs to identify the units of competency relevant to each qualification. These documents replace the individual qualification overviews previously published:
- Status of units of competency for qualifications in the Hospitality Curriculum Framework, based on SITv1.2, and
- Status of units of competency for qualifications in the Hospitality Curriculum Framework, based on SITv1.3
Schools and colleges should consult with their school system and/or RTO regarding this advice and delivery of courses from the Hospitality Curriculum Framework.
Amendment — Hospitality Curriculum Framework Syllabus

NESA has amended the Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus following the release of version 1.2 of the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.
No impact on HSC courses and their requirements. No change to HSC Content.
The cover page of the syllabus and qualification overview documents now reference the latest version of the Training Package, and within the documents NESA has replaced BOSTES and hyperlinks have been updated.
Updated Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus

Following the release of the new national SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package, BOSTES has updated the Stage 6 Hospitality Curriculum Framework syllabus. The updated syllabus, based on SITv1.1, is now available.
Implementation commences from 2017 with Year 11. View the updated syllabus and a range of associated documents on the BOSTES website. New BOSTES course numbers for the updated Framework are detailed in the syllabus.
Students who commenced a Hospitality course in 2016 and are completing the course in 2017 will continue the courses outlined in the 'old' Hospitality syllabus based on SIT12v2. The 2017 HSC examination for Hospitality will be based on the 'old' syllabus.
2017 students who want to undertake the 240-hour Hospitality course in the one year also complete the course outlined in the 'old' syllabus. Any student wanting to sit the 2017 HSC examination must complete the 240-hour Hospitality course from this 'old' syllabus.
The first Hospitality HSC examination based on the updated syllabus will be conducted in 2018.
