What this provision does
This provision provides students with a copy of the exam paper in braille. Some questions may be changed so students can access the questions on the same basis as students using the standard paper.
If the student needs extra time to access the braille exam paper, the school should also apply for extra time.
Who this provision is for
This provision is for students with a severe vision impairment whose normal practice is to access text using braille.
How it works on the day
The student receives a copy of the exam paper in braille.
What supporting information is needed
Examples of supporting information for this provision include:
- NESA Vision form, usually including a diagnosis of a related condition or disability
- NESA Teacher Comments form
- Student declaration.

Schools can find forms and templates for most types of supporting information through the Schools Online platform. They will print out the relevant forms and give them to students, parents or caregivers as needed.
