Who needs to read this?
- Principals and proprietors of non-government schools
Annual reporting requirements are detailed in section B2.7 of the:
- NSW Registered and Accredited Individual Non-government Schools Manual
- NSW Registration Systems and Member Non-government Schools Manual.
NESA identified from the annual reports submitted in 2025 that common areas requiring improvement are:
- the inclusion of website links to the school’s publicly available policies for child protection, anti‑bullying, discipline, managing complaints and enrolment
- publishing the annual report on the school’s website.
Schools should consider these areas for improvement in finalising reports for the 2025 school year. New schools in 2026 are not required to submit an annual report until their second year of operation.
The new School Registration Insights resource for schools provides more information regarding Annual School reports.
Submission of annual reports is via NESA’s registration website RANGS Online.
