Applications for approval as a Teacher Accreditation Authority (TAA) are due by 31 March 2019 for:
- TAAs of non-government schools with registration that expires at the end of 2019
- new TAAs of proposed non-government schools seeking to begin operating in 2020.
Online application forms for TAA approval are available via RANGS Online. For assistance accessing RANGS Online, please call the School Registration and Accreditation Directorate on 02 9367 8432.
The requirements and processes for approval as a TAA under the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004 are detailed in the Guidelines for the Regulation of Teacher Accreditation Authorities for Non-government Schools and Early Childhood Education Centres (‘the TAA guidelines’).
On 1 January 2016, a new regulatory framework for approving TAAs for non-government schools and early childhood education centres became effective.
Under transition arrangements, non-government schools seeking initial or renewed registration to commence from 1 January 2020 are required to have a TAA approved under the new framework.
The TAA Guidelines can be downloaded from the Teacher Accreditation Authorities section of the NESA website, where you can also find:
- information about the transitional arrangements
- a self-audit checklist to assist TAAs.
