HSC English prescriptions digital update

HSC English prescriptions features introduced, and location and information updated

Prescriptions now appear beneath syllabus content in relevant focus areas. A Selection tool and Alphabetical list have been introduced. Minor typographical updates have been made to the listings of some texts.

Update to location

For HSC English prescriptions 2027–2030 onward, prescriptions will be located beneath the relevant focus areas in each syllabus. Teachers can download the prescriptions alongside the content of each syllabus.

New features introduced

A Selection tool feature allows users to browse and confirm combinations of prescriptions that meet prescription requirements in Year 12 English courses.

An Alphabetical list allows users to search and sort the full list of prescriptions.

Updates to listings

Item listings for some prescribed texts have been updated to reflect publication details:

• ‘Air Force Ones’ was updated to ‘Airforce Ones’ (English Standard: Language, identity and culture)
• ‘Ballad of the Totems’ was updated to ‘Ballad of Totems’ (English Standard: Close study of literature)
• 149 ‘The show is not the show’ was updated to 1206 ‘The show is not the show’ (English Advanced: Textual conversations)
• ‘The Collected Poems’ was updated to ‘The Collected Poems of Langston Hughes’ (English EAL/D: Language, identity and culture)
• ‘Flame tree in a Quarry’ was updated to ‘Flametree in a Quarry’ (English EAL/D: Close study of text)
