New Communication Technology, Food Technology, Industrial Technology, Textiles Technology, Physical Activity and Sports Science, Photography, Film and Digital Media, and Visual and Motion Design 7–10 syllabuses are now available on the NSW Curriculum website.
Schools can now plan and prepare to teach the new syllabuses which will be implemented in NSW schools in 2028.
Key features
Communication Technology 7–10
- The new syllabus focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills through the design, development and production of communication technologies in real-world contexts.
Food Technology 7–10
- The new syllabus emphasises innovative food technologies, nutrition and sustainability, preparing students to create solutions for global food security, health and wellbeing.
Industrial Technology 7–10
- The syllabus focuses on the development of industry-based technology knowledge and practical skills through the processes of design, project development and production.
Textiles Technology 7–10
- The new syllabus includes an emphasis on innovative textile technologies and sustainability, preparing students for future endeavours.
Physical Activity and Sports Science 7–10
- The new syllabus has an emphasis on sports science and provides students with an understanding of how participation and performance in physical activity and sport have a positive impact on individuals and the community.
Photography, Film and Digital Media 7–10 and Visual and Motion Design 7–10
- The new syllabuses focus on building students’ artistic, conceptual, and technical skills through the mastery of photomedia, visual and motion design practices, and current and emerging photomedia and design forms.
Schools can access support materials, including teaching advice, on the NSW Curriculum website to assist with implementation. More resources will be made available over time.
