Key features
- The new syllabuses provide opportunities for students to engage with literature from Australia, including the study of a range of texts authored by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- The new syllabuses support teachers in developing students’ understanding of how language creates artistic expression in texts.
- The content in the new syllabuses supports students to become confident communicators, critical and imaginative thinkers, and informed and active participants in society.
- The new syllabuses support the explicit teaching of language and literacy through a range of literary experiences.
- The streamlined content in the new English 11–12 syllabuses supports teachers to assist students to achieve the syllabus outcomes at the highest levels.
Schools have access to support materials including teaching advice on the NSW Curriculum website to assist with implementation. More resources will be made available over time as well as online, accredited professional development on NESA’s online learning hub.
