The new Economics, Legal Studies and Law and the Community Life Skills 11–12 syllabuses are now available on the NSW Curriculum website.
Schools can now plan and prepare to teach the new 11–12 syllabuses. The new syllabuses will be implemented in NSW schools in 2027.
Key features
- The new Economics, Legal Studies and Law and Community Life Skills 11–12 syllabuses emphasise core knowledge, understanding and skills to provide students with valuable opportunities to connect their learning to a range of real-world applications.
- The Economics 11–12 Syllabus equips students with the knowledge of how households, businesses and governments make choices about the allocation of resources and their effect on the consumption, production and distribution of goods and services in an economy. Students apply their knowledge of economics to analyse real-world problems and solutions that influence the efficiency, equity and wellbeing of a society.
- The Legal Studies and Law and the Community Life Skills 11–12 Syllabuses enable students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international legal systems and how they have been shaped over time. Students learn about how the law interacts with aspects of society by investigating and analysing evidence that supports or refutes an interpretation of the law and informs their legal reasoning.
Schools have access to support materials including teaching advice on the NSW Curriculum website to assist with implementation. More resources will be made available over time.
