Eligibility for funding

To be eligible for financial assistance from the NSW Government, a non-government school must not operate for profit.

Section 83C of the Education Act 1990 defines what operating for profit means.

NESA assists schools with understanding their obligations and how to meet them.

We also assist the Minister for Education and Early Learning with:

  • regulatory decision making and policy
  • investigating breaches of section 83C.
