Find out about common types of knots and their uses.
Types of knots
Some common types of knots are:
- sheet bend
- clove hitch
- rolling hitch
- bowline single.
Sheet bend
A sheet bend is used to join two dry ropes of different sizes. It is safer when double sheet bend is used. The smaller rope must be bent around the larger rope.

Rolling hitch
A rolling hitch is used to secure a stopper, or two ropes pulling in opposite directions. This knot is very useful. It is preferable to clove hitch or blackwall hitch, so long as rolling turns are put on in proper direction of pull.
