Information for tax agents managing long service payments for building and construction workers
Find information if you are a tax agent managing long service payments for contractors in the building and construction industry in NSW.
What tax agents do
Tax agents manage portable long service payments for contractors by lodging a Self-Employed Worker Certificate of Service (SEWCOS) each year for eligible building and construction work a contractor has done in NSW.
Tax agents must:
- Be a registered practitioner with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). The TPB administers the registration of tax agents in Australia.
- Have a Tax Agent Number (TAN) issued from the board. A TAN is a unique number allocated to tax agents when they are registered by the Tax Practitioners' Board.
