About the contract cleaning portable long service leave scheme

The contract cleaning industry portable long service leave scheme enables eligible cleaning workers in NSW access long service leave based on their service to the industry, rather than with a single employer.

The scheme is administered by the Long Service Corporation (LSC) and is funded through a levy paid by registered contract cleaning employers.

It recognises that workers in the cleaning industry often move between employers and contracts, making it difficult to qualify for long service leave under traditional arrangements.

Workers may become entitled to 8.67 weeks of paid long service leave after 10 years of recognised service in the contract cleaning industry.

Employers covered by the scheme must register with LSC, lodge quarterly service returns, and pay levy contributions for eligible workers.
