Cancelling, suspending or restoring community services industry long service leave scheme registration

Cancellation of worker registration
Under the legislation, Long Service Corporation (LSC) is required to cancel your worker registration if you:
- are not eligible to be registered
- do not record any service for at least 4 years in a row
- have received a pro rata payment after permanently leaving the industry, or
- have asked us to cancel your registration.
We will notify you if a decision is made to cancel your registration.
Applying for reinstatement of registration
If we cancel your registration because you did not record service credits for 4 years in a row, you can apply to have it reinstated. You can apply within 6 years of the date of cancellation.
When you apply, you will need to tell LSC your special circumstances you think we should consider. If you do not have any, we will not be able to consider reinstating your registration.
If we reinstate your registration, all your previously recorded service will count towards any future long service leave.
Suspension of registration
LSC can suspend your registration if you have more than 5 years of service credits but have not been credited with any service for the last 4 years.
If your registration is suspended, you will not be able to record any further service credits, and you will not receive an annual statement.
If your registration is suspended, you can apply for a pro rata payment if you have:
- permanently left the industry
- 10 weeks have passed since you permanently left the industry, and
- no service credits have been recorded in that 10-week period.
How to restore a suspended registration
If you are suspended, you can apply at any time for restoration of your registration and previous service credits. Once your registration is restored, you can start recording service again.
How to appeal a decision
You can appeal our decision if we notify you that your registration is about to be cancelled because:
- you were not eligible to register, or
- you did not record any service for at least 4 years in a row.
Appeals are reviewed by the Community Service Sector Long Service Leave Committee.
