Sydney to shine for the ARIA Awards
Sydney will be the epicentre of Australian music tonight as it once again rolls out the red carpet to honour the nation’s best recording artists at the 2022 ARIA Awards.
Minister for Tourism and the Arts Ben Franklin said the ARIA Awards were at home in Sydney and showcased the Harbour City as the nation’s music and cultural capital.
“Sydney and NSW have been the birthplace of many outstanding Australian recording artists and have provided the backdrop to equally as many significant Australian music moments across 35 years of the ARIA Awards,” Mr Franklin said.
“I am delighted to see the debut of the ARIA Awards at The Hordern Pavilion; a landmark Sydney music venue that has hosted such influential international and local artists as Elton John, David Bowie, Cold Chisel, INXS, Midnight Oil and Foo Fighters.
“The NSW Government joins ARIA in congratulating all the incredibly talented nominees and recipients of this year’s ARIA Awards and celebrating the dedication and innovation in music that they represent.”
The ARIA Awards are part of an unprecedented calendar of music and cultural events for Sydney this summer including Opera on Cockatoo Island, Sydney Modern Opening Festival, Australian premiere of Madagascar The Musical, ELEVATE Sydney, Sydney Festival and Sydney WorldPride.
The 2022 ARIA Awards in partnership with YouTube Music will be broadcast around Australia on the Nine network. For more information on the ARIA Awards go to www.ariaawards.com.au, and for information about Sydney events go to www.sydney.com.
