590,000+ hectares under protection forever

The risk to nature

Nature is at a turning point. Climate change, habitat loss and invasive species are putting many of our native animals and plants at risk. In NSW, nearly 1000 species could disappear forever.

But there is hope. More than 80% of land in NSW is privately managed and key to protecting nature on a large scale. By working with private landholders, the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust is leading a major effort to protect, connect and enhance these important ecosystems.

Join the effort to protect nature

We can't solve the biodiversity crisis alone. Our programs are oversubscribed, with far more landholders ready to protect and enhance nature than there are resources to support. By bringing together government funding, landholder commitment and the catalytic power of philanthropy, we can unlock these opportunities and accelerate protection where it matters most.

Your donation will help protect the places that matter most, like koala habitat, endangered woodlands, wetlands and wildlife corridors. These areas are vital to our environment, and with your help, we can protect them forever.

How supporting private land conservation protects nature

In NSW 70 per cent of land is privately owned, which means private land conservation
has a really important contribution towards achieving global nature goals and Australia's
and NSW's goals for biodiversity conservation.  The private land conservation system complements
the National Reserve System, being our system of national parks in NSW and Australia. So together
they work hand in hand. The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust partners with landholders
to achieve real conservation outcomes on the ground. Our conservation agreements
make sure the land is protected forever.  Those conservation agreements sit on the
title of a property and they remain there, even if the property is sold into the future,
so we know the land is protected and managed.  The BCT's Revolving Fund offers a really exciting
opportunity for donors because it enables us to amplify your impact year-after-year. We want to
partner with donors who share our commitment to safeguarding our native wildlife to protecting,
connecting and restoring biodiversity and creating a lasting environmental legacy.

Why support our work?

Permanent conservation you can trust

We offer permanent protection for threatened habitat and species and provide land managers with ongoing financial support and independently accredited biodiversity monitoring to leave a lasting legacy.

Targeted conservation where it counts

We use science to guide our work and focus on areas where we can make the biggest difference for Australia’s wildlife.

A trust network of landholders

We work with more than 1800 landholders across NSW to deliver a permanent conservation legacy. Together, we’re helping protect nature, support farming communities and build resilience to climate change.

World-class expertise and investment

We're backed by world-class science and receive generous funding from the NSW Government. Investments go into a dedicated trust fund to make sure conservation outcomes are secure and long-lasting.

Supporting indigenous leadership

We’re proud to work with Aboriginal landholders and organisations to support conservation efforts that are led by people who know the land best both culturally and environmentally.

Helping meet global conservation goals

Your support helps in a global effort to protect and restore 30% of the world’s land by 2030. Together, we can create a healthier future for everyone.
