Want to protect biodiversity and get paid?
If you're a NSW landholder, you can earn an annual fixed price for protecting native plants and animals on your property.
If your land is in one of our priority areas, you can apply to receive a set payment per hectare each year for managing conservation areas.
How a fixed price offer works to protect habitat and species on your property
Timeline and process
Sending an expression of interest is a 2-step, online, process:
- Fill out the expression of interest form.
- After you submit the form, you'll get a link to map the area you want to protect. Within 10 days of receiving the link, use it to map the boundary of your proposed conservation area.
The current submission period closes on 1 March 2026.
The next round of expressions of interest will open later in 2026.
If you're eligible, one of our local team members will contact you to visit your property. They'll help assess the area you've proposed to protect under an agreement with us, and advise you on your formal application and next steps.
Interactive map
This fixed price offer map allows you to zoom into your property and provides an initial indication of:
- whether you are within an eligible area
- a per hectare dollar price for each land and soil capability zone on your property (if the area is eligible).
Eligibility
To submit an expression of interest you must be:
- An owner of the land. This means you legally own the property, as defined by the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016. If the land has other legal interests (like leases or mortgages), those parties may also need to agree to the conservation arrangement.
- An Australian citizen or company. You must be registered for tax in Australia and have an Australian bank account. If you're a company, you also need to be registered for GST.
- A fit and proper person. This means you must be someone who can responsibly enter into a long-term (in-perpetuity) agreement to protect biodiversity on your land.
