How you can help regional businesses

From preserving water to supporting regional businesses, everyone in New South Wales can do their bit.

Buy Regional

One of the best ways you can support regional communities in NSW is to buy direct from the producer or small business owner.

Visit the Buy Regional portal to find gifts, treats, fine food, fresh produce, wine and micro-brewed beers and spirits to stock your kitchen. There's original fashion and jewellery design and beautiful things for kids, wine from Orange, cheese from The Hunter, and antiques and art curated from NSW's best stores and galleries.

Donate money or volunteer with a charity

Many Sydneysiders are supporting charities and organisations that are lending a helping hand to people in the bush. From One Day Closer to Rain to Buy a Bale, there are many opportunities for you to support drought-affected communities.

Not sure where to start? The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission has information for volunteers and a charity register.

Donate directly using the GIVIT website

Find out what drought-impacted communities actually need by visiting the GIVIT website. Through GIVIT, trusted Australian charities are able to request exactly what is needed by their clients. These requests are then listed on the website. Donors can also pledge items for donation into a virtual warehouse, a private online portal where registered charities can see and reserve what's available.

Love water, don't waste it.

We all need to do our bit to save water – if we all save a little, together we can make a big difference. Talk to a water coach or read stories about water heroes to get inspired about how you can help save water or get involved.
