Conversion software for spatial data
Find out about the free applications available to help you modernise and convert your spatial data.
Converting your data
To support data modernisation and help you convert your data to the Geocentric Datum of Australia (GDA2020), NSW government agency Spatial Services provides the applications listed below. They are free.
You can also:
- contact to your software provider for support
- read about GDA2020 transformation products on the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) website.
All effort is made to ensure the accuracy and currency of these applications, however Spatial Services does not accept responsibility for any actions arising from their use.
GridCalc (GDA2020) for NSW
- Including Combined Scale Factor calculation
The GridCalc (GDA2020) for NSW spreadsheet package includes combined scale factor (CSF) calculation for GDA2020. It is available from ICSM’s GitHub repository.
Spatial Collaboration Portal
Data Export
The Spatial Collaboration Portal can export some datasets in both GDA94 and GDA2020 (for example the ‘NSW Land Parcel Property Theme’ data). Refer to the ‘How-To Guides’ in the portal for more information.
Projection service
The Spatial Collaboration Portal ‘projection’ service can be used to project and transform point and polygon data.
The following are specified by their WKID values in the portal:
- Input Spatial Reference
- Output Spatial Reference and
- Datum transformation parameters
A list of valid WKID is available in the portal.
Custom transformations are also supported. For example:
Transformation Grids
Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) provides transformation grids to transform between Australian national datums.
These can be used with software capable of applying grid transformation with National Transformation version 2 (NTv2) files.
