Program objective
Funding is available to support and promote banding by means of increasing banding activity within NSW communities, increasing performance standards and growing audience numbers.

Eligibility
Who can apply
Only community bands who are members of the Band Association of NSW and who are located in an NSW Local Government Area are eligible to apply for this funding.
Types of projects funded under this grant
Funding is available to support and promote banding by means of increasing banding activity within NSW communities, increasing performance standards and growing audience numbers through:
- Workshops and Band Camps which involves a combined adult and youth band skill development and / or integration aspect and a general public focused performance.
- Band organization outreach program to support an adult or youth beginner band,
- Developing community / school band relationships;
- Concerts directed at widening audiences (aspects which can be funded include venue hire, advertising and promotion costs, guest artist fees);
- Developing sister band relationships between city and country / regional bands (tours, concerts, tutor / mentoring visits);
- General advertising and promotional activities (including newspaper and paid media costs for promotion of bands recruitment and growth programs and other activities);
- Development of individual members’ promotional, production and administrative skills where there will be a direct benefit to the applying Band organisation;
- Web / IT development;
- New music commissions (including plans for its premiere)
- New music purchases for a youth / beginner Band or for concert programs;
- Instrument repair program to support a new or ongoing exiting youth or adult beginner band program;
- Other equipment purchases such as music stands / stand banners and other items which will assist with increasing the band’s community exposure, audience reach and ability to attract more players (must include details about where and when these will be used to demonstrate benefits).
When the project can start and end
Projects must be conducted in the 2025 calendar year between 01 March 2025 and 31 December 2025.
The project must be completed by 31 December 2025.
Types of projects not funded under this grant
APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING TO COVER NORMAL OPERATING COSTS WILL BE REJECTED.
Additional eligibility requirements
One application per band organisation (which may include an unlimited number of projects) may be submitted.
Funds must be spent by 31 December 2025.

Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.
Address the assessment criteria
Grants are assessed with the following priorities:
- Overall benefit to the band, the general community, and the wider banding community
- Potential for youth band development, youth involvement and youth outreach
- Potential for audience development, community outreach and band brand development
- Group and individual skill development
- Medium to long term benefit to the band organisation.

After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: the Band Association of NSW Inc management committee.
Assessment of each application will be made by the management committee of the Band Association of NSW Inc.
Anticipated assessment outcome date is not before 1 March 2025.
