The Cancer Institute NSW is offering travel grants to support the professional development of Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) staff in New South Wales (NSW).

Program objective
These grants will enable CTU staff to attend two key conferences in 2026:
- ARCS Annual Conference 2026
- Australia-New Zealand Site Solutions Summit 2026 (SCRS).
The purpose of the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit Travel Grants is to:
- Support professional development and expand the knowledge of CTU staff in areas such as clinical trials, regulatory advancements, and operational best practices.
- Promote and foster collaboration between CTUs across NSW, enhancing the exchange of knowledge, sharing best practices, and strengthening the overall clinical trial network.
- Build interest and involvement in state and national clinical trial capability and capacity efforts, contributing to the growth of clinical research across NSW and beyond.
- Encourage attendance for regional NSW CTU staff at the ARCS Annual Conference, ensuring strong representation from regional areas and enhancing their access to industry-leading insights and networking opportunities.
This program is funded and administered by Cancer Institute NSW.
Eligibility
Funding Period
Successful applicants must use the funds to attend the ARCS conference on 11-12 June 2026 and/or the Australia-New Zealand Site Solutions Summit 2026 (24-25 July 2026). The funds will be paid to the Administering Institution by June 2026.
Eligible Use of Funds
Funds may be used for the following:
- travel expenses (flights and accommodation)
- conference registration.
Applicant Criteria
- Applicant location:
- ARCS: Applicants must work in a regional, rural or remote NSW CTU. This includes public or private CTUs in any of the following Local Health Districts or equivalent geographic area:
- Far West
- Hunter New England
- Illawarra Shoalhaven
- Mid North Coast
- Murrumbidgee
- Northern NSW
- Southern NSW
- Western NSW
- SCRS: Applicant must work at a CTU in any part of NSW.
- ARCS: Applicants must work in a regional, rural or remote NSW CTU. This includes public or private CTUs in any of the following Local Health Districts or equivalent geographic area:
- Applicant employment:
- Applicants must work at one of the NSW Health Local Health District, Specialty Network, or Private Clinical Trial Units that report cancer clinical trial activity into the Cancer Institute NSW Clinical Trials Portal.
- Applicants must be employed in a clinical, medical or academic capacity within the Clinical Trials Unit.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 1 years' experience in the public (Local Health District) or private clinical trial sector in cancer clinical trials.
Administering Institution Endorsement
Applicants must nominate the administering organisation who will be responsible for the financial management of the grant and will sign a Terms and Conditions Letter. The Administering Organisation will either be a:
- Local Health District (if public clinical trials unit)
- Private Organisation (if private clinical trials unit).
The Administering Organisation must have in place policies and procedures for the administration of public funds.
At the time of grant application submission, an Endorsement Letter from the Administering Organisation contact on letterhead must be included. The letter should be signed by a representative of the Administering Organisation who is not the Supervisor/Manager. This letter must confirm the following:
- The application is endorsed by the applicant’s Manager/Supervisor and Administering Organisation.
- The applicant has not submitted any other travel grant applications in this grant round.
- The Administering Organisation agrees to the Terms and Conditions of the travel grant; and
- Any other information relevant for the application.

Applicants must submit a complete application with all the following information:
- Personal and employment details
- Selection of conference/s
- Description of experience that aligns with employment details
- Appropriate justification for benefit of attendance
- Appropriate suggestion for alternate use of funds
- Budget, including only eligible expenditure
- Endorsement letter signed by applicant’s Supervisor/Manager
- Endorsement letter signed by applicant’s Administering Organisation.

This grant is distributed on a first-in, first-served basis, with funding provided to all eligible applications until the grant closes, or the funding allocation is exhausted.

The applicant will receive a notification of receipt email within one business day of the application submission.
