This grant will support NSW Cancer Clinical Trials Units to recruit a professional to undertake a short-term project that will build the capacity and capability of the clinical trials unit.

Program objective
The objectives of the Clinical Trials Fellowship are to:
- Provide the opportunity for clinical trials professionals or early career researchers to further develop their research skills
- Encourage the development of long-term careers in cancer clinical trials in NSW
- Encourage innovation in the cancer clinical trials space to increase opportunities for participation in and recruitment to trials.
The Fellow may be a professional of any background and at any level with the appropriate skills and knowledge to complete the project.
This program is funded and administered by Cancer Institute NSW.
Eligibility
NSW-Based Clinical Trial Units
Applications may be submitted from any NSW Local Health District, Speciality Network, or Private Clinical Trial Unit participating in the Clinical Trial Program documented through a Cancer Institute NSW Block Funding Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding and providing clinical trial activity data through the Cancer Institute NSW Clinical Trials Portal.
Each unit may submit one application to recruit one Fellowship position. Multiple clinical trial units may be listed on one application.
Administering Institution Endorsement
Applications must nominate a single Administering Institution who will be responsible for the management of the grant and will enter into a Competitive Grants Agreement.
In the case of a NSW Health Clinical Trials Unit, this may be the Hospital that the Unit is based.
The Administering Institution must have in place policies and procedures for the administration of public funds and for the management of Intellectual Property.

Project Details (70%)
- Demonstration of significance of the proposed project
- Identification of current cancer service gaps/needs within the nominated Cancer Clinical Trials Unit/s
- Demonstration of supporting the priorities of the NSW Cancer Plan
- The potential to build the capacity and capability of the clinical trials unit/s and demonstration of how this will be measured
- Identification and justification of the proposed position.
Experience (20%)
- Demonstration of how the Fellow and project will be supported across the 12-month period.
Financial Management (10%)
- Demonstration of value for money on how the funds will be spent.

After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: Chief Executive Officer , Cancer Institute NSW.
All applications will undergo an eligibility check to ensure that applicants have met the requirements of the grant.
The Institute utilises a Grants Review Panel who will adhere to the Cancer Institute NSW policies to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of applications.
The Grants Review Panel will assess applications based on an assessment of merit against the stated assessment criteria.
The Grants Review Panel will put forward recommendations to the The Cancer Institute NSW Chief Executive Officer for consideration of funding.
