A one-off ad hoc grant to host community forums for renters on climate resilience, cost of living and energy standards.
Key information
- Status: Not open for application
- Grant amount: $70,000
Program objective
- Renters across NSW feel heard and are able to directly share their own experience, and consider and provide feedback on problems and proposed solutions in relation to climate resilience, cost of living and energy standards in rental homes.
- The Community Voice forums model, a new participatory and inclusive approach to facilitating renters’ engagement in decision making, better supporting community participation in shaping public policy which directly impacts on their lives.
- Renters from across diverse communities are supported and resourced in shaping a shared set of Community Voices recommendations, assisting the government to identify new and/or priority areas of reform for issues within the forum’s scope.
- Renters, typically underrepresented in more formal Government consultation processes (including First Nations renters, renters in regional areas, young renters and renters from culturally and linguistically diverse communities) are able to share their experience and considered feedback on problems and solutions directly with Government.
- Community champions (renters) from key groups will be identified, and their capacity and confidence developed, helping empower them to represent renters in future stakeholder roundtables or discussions about issues impacting renters.
