The Jewish Community Response Grants Program promotes a community-led approach to response, supporting community organisations to meet the needs of Jewish communities affected by the Bondi terror attack on 14 December 2025.

Program objective
The key program objective is to provide critical support to Jewish communities to promote connection
and healing in response to the Bondi terror attack on 14 December 2025.
Activities that can be funded through the small grants program can include:
- Group programs and activities that facilitate social connection
- Creating opportunities for conversations and listening to occur which relate to the incident and associated events
- Supporting community and individual wellbeing, resilience, and post-trauma growth
- Proactive outreach to community members
- Funeral and commemoration costs
- Practical assistance
- Resourcing the development of wellbeing resources
- Encouraging social connection and supportive relationships
- Other community-based activities that assist individuals and groups to access a range of initiatives focused on healing, connection and wellbeing.
This program is funded and administered by Multicultural NSW.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Jewish Community Response Grant, applicants must:
- be located within NSW
- have acquitted any prior grants from Multicultural NSW
- be a not-for-profit organisation
- have all appropriate insurances and licenses
- submit an application using Multicultural NSW SmartyGrants portal
- deliver the initiative by 30 June 2026.

What can’t you apply for
The following activities are a non-exhaustive list of activities the grant funds may not be used for:
- Activities that directly contradict established government health and safety advice will not be supported
- Purchase of alcohol, tobacco products, gaming services, computer software, entertainment
streaming - Purchase of capital works and equipment purchases for the NGO (for example, purchase of phones, computer hardware, laptops, tablets, routers, modems, webcams, entertainment systems, TVs, etc.)
- Organisational operating costs (including office rent and administration costs)
- Broader work that the organisation already delivers such as services, programs and activities
that do not fit within the aims of the grant program - Covering existing debts or budget deficits of the organisation
- Research or policy activities
- Party political activities
- Security costs
- Commercial or fundraising activities
- Celebration of national or independence days
- Cash prizes or gifts.
Available funding
Funding of $1 million is available. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until 30 June 2026, or until the funds are exhausted.
Applicants may request up to $50,000 per application. Multiple applications from the same organisation will be accepted. The limits can be subject to change following advice of the Minister’s office.
Multicultural NSW may consider applications requesting increased funding, up to a maximum of $500,000, where:
- applicants produce evidence of costs already incurred in response to the attack
- expenses were incurred between 14 December 2025 and 14 January 2026
- the expenses or initiatives are within the scope of the grant guidelines.
Funding agreements
Terms and conditions will apply to the grant funding agreement. Successful organisations are required to enter into a funding agreement and comply with the terms and conditions of the funding agreement.
