Program objective
The objectives of this grant program are to support innovation, foster partnerships and to facilitate self-sustenance for Landcare.
For the purposes of this grant program:
- Innovation refers to the introduction or expansion of new ideas or ways of doing something (to your group or area) that adds value and promotes progress.
- Partnerships refers to a collaboration which leverages the strengths of each partner to maximise project outcomes.
- Self-sustenance refers to fostering innovative resourcing strategies to enable a resilient and adaptive organisation that allows landcarers to continue their vital work in the longer term.
This program is funded and administered by Local Land Services.

What was approved
Approved for Central Tablelands Regional Landcare Network
The Central Tablelands Regional Landcare Network will deliver a coordinated program supporting local Landcare groups, volunteers, landholders and emerging leaders across the region. Activities include native seed collection training, leadership and succession planning, coordinated pest management, grazing and soil extension programs, Communities of Practice and targeted environmental upskilling. The project will strengthen biodiversity, soil and water management, biosecurity and climate preparedness while building local leadership capability and organisational resilience. Outcomes will include improved technical skills, stronger peer networks, enhanced governance continuity and increased capacity for Landcare groups to deliver sustainable, place-based environmental initiatives into the future.

The project will deliver a range of regional and local priority initiatives to ensure Landcare thrives in the Central West with the support of new partners and innovative project design. Our proposal: - tackles growing pest animal issues across urban and agricultural land, - engages the agricultural community on issues of soil health, grazing management and waste management, - trials new technology in woody weed control, - encourages the community to adopt sustainable lifestyle foundations, and - delivers programs to engage youth on local natural resource management issues.

Approved for Greater Sydney Landcare
Greater Sydney Landcare (GSL) is a membership-based, not-for-profit organisation that brings individuals and communities together to build resilient landscapes. Our Corporate program has demonstrated the demand for paid corporate volunteering events. To build profitably on this demand, GSL now needs to enlarge our skill base with business skills, improved processes and systems. The opportunity to create an Environmental Services business is now being put in place, with a focus on community and critical sites. Further investment is required to strengthen this growth, improve program delivery, and ensure GSL can continue supporting on-ground environmental outcomes with communities across Greater Sydney.

The Murray Innovations and Partnerships Project transitions the Murray Collective into a modern, investment-ready partnership. Integrating five sub-projects—including digital infrastructure, biosecurity action and biodiversity reporting—the project replaces grant-dependency with a unified Regional Prospectus and data-backed Impact Scorecards. This systemic approach embeds self-sustenance by diversifying revenue through corporate ESG and philanthropy. By sharing resources like membership platforms and image libraries, the project reduces administrative duplication and proves ecological ROI. Ultimately, it creates a scalable, "nature-positive" model securing the future of and benefit to the Murray’s natural assets and landcare movement, our stakeholders, partners and investors.

Led by Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare and Hunter Region Landcare Network, the project focuses on building skills, sharing practical tools and strengthening partnerships that support informed decision-making. Activities include shared learning, use of climate adaptation tools, improved planning and monitoring approaches, and closer collaboration with councils, Hunter Local Land Services and technical experts. By strengthening coordination, efficiency and capability, the project supports greater resilience and self sustenance for Landcare. The project will deliver long term capacity to support climate-ready land management.
