Program objective
The purpose of the Program is to provide further funding for the purchase of handheld eID equipment as part of the implementation of mandatory individual eID for sheep and goats within NSW.
The intended recipients of rebates under the program are sheep and goat producers and licenced stock and station agents in NSW.

This program is administered by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
Eligibility
Who can apply
To be eligible for a rebate, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements:
- have not received funding under a previous NSW Sheep and Goat eID Infrastructure Rebate Scheme
- be one of the following:
- a company incorporated in Australia
- a partnership
- a sole trader
- trustee
- have a bank account with an Australian financial institution
In addition;
For producers:
- have a NSW Property Identification Code (PIC)
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- are a trading entity with tax returns or financial statements or an Annual Stock and Land Return (from 2024 or later) showing your business is actively involved in the sheep and goat sector.
For Stock and Station Agents:
- have a valid and current NSW Stock and Station Agents Licence Number
(A Licenced Stock and Station Agency who have previously purchased eligible items on behalf of employees under a single company ABN, may apply on behalf of employees of the business who hold their own separate Stock and Station Agent Licence, up to the maximum amount available, for each eligible employee.)
Who the grant is targeted towards
The intended recipients of rebates under the program are sheep and goat producers and licenced stock and station agents in NSW, that did not receive funding through the initial NSW Sheep and Goat eID Infrastructure Rebate Scheme.
Types of projects funded under this grant
The following items are eligible and ineligible under the Program:
Eligible Items:
- NEW eID handheld readers (i.e stick or wand readers)
Ineligible Items:
- Second-hand/used equipment
- eID panel readers (including antennas and reader boxes)
- Indicators or other hardware
- eID devices (e.g ear tags and leg bands)
- eID wand reader extensions
- eID software subscriptions

Who can’t apply
If you do not meet any part of the eligibility criteria, you are not eligible for this rebate.
Example projects
Eligible equipment can have a purchase date from 3 October 2023.
Applicants are limited to claiming costs for ONE (1) handheld reader only.
A Licenced Stock and Station Agency who have previously purchased eligible items on behalf of employees under a single company ABN, may apply on behalf of employees of the business who hold their own separate Stock and Station Agent Licence, up to the maximum amount available, for each eligible employee.

Please ensure you have the following information and documentation before applying:
For producers:
- NSW PIC Code

Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.
Address the assessment criteria
Applications that have met the eligibility criteria will be assessed against the assessment criteria.
Below are the assessment criteria and the supporting evidence required.
Criteria: Purchase of eligible eID equipment
Supporting Evidence:
- Valid tax invoice listing the eligible equipment purchased from 3 October 2023; including:
- name, address and ABN (if applicable) of the entity that issued the invoice,
- and is clearly identifiable as being related to approved expenditure for the applicant.
- Proof that the eligible item has been paid for in full by the applicant.

When to apply
Applicants must submit their applications by the closing date and time, listed in the Grant Program Details in the Program Guidelines.
The department retains discretion to extend the closing date and time.
What to include
Each application must include the documents listed in the Application Form which include the following:
- completed application form
- proof of bank account details
- evidence of purchase of eligible items- including a valid tax invoice and proof of payment
- for Producer applicants: proof of involvement in the sheep and goat industry
After submitting an application
Applicants will receive a notification of receipt of application.
Once submitted, applications cannot be reopened by the applicant.
The department may contact applicants to verify information or seek further information.

After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: Executive Director Agriculture DPIRD NSW. The decision maker is responsible for ensuring the scheme is administered in accordance with approved criteria and policy intent.
Stages
Determining which applications are successful involves these stages:
- eligibility cull
- assessment and decision making
Please note that the department typically receives more applications than it can support. Applicants are not guaranteed funding through this Program.
Eligibility cull
Program officers from the Department will assess the applications against the eligibility criteria.
Applications that have met the eligibility criteria will move to the next stage.
Assessment
The assessment team will assess eligible applications against the assessment criteria and ensure that rebates are administered in accordance with approved criteria.
Assessment team
The assessment team consists of program officers from the Department.
The assessment team may seek advice from other NSW Government agencies and other sources such as probity advisors.
The assessment team may contact applicants seeking clarification of information in the applications or further supporting material.
Assessment process
The assessment team will assess each application on its merits without reference to the comparative merits of other applications.
Complete applications will be assessed in order of receipt. Incomplete applications will not enter the assessment queue until all information is provided.
Approval
The assessment team will approve or reject any application based on their assessment against the criteria.
Anticipated assessment outcome date is Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application within 30 business days after submitting a complete application.
