Program objective
- Alert residents in retirement villages to legislative changes and their impacts, particularly where village finances are concerned.
- Assist residents and resident committees:
- to improve their understanding of management processes in producing village accounts and budgets; and
- with guidance and opportunities to resolve disputes (not legal advocacy).
- Provide knowledge to residents about their legislated rights and responsibilities, including recommendations as to standards and procedures that might be adopted by residents’ committees to ensure smooth interaction between residents and operators in examining finances.
- Share insight with other stakeholders, Government, industry and consumer groups.
This grant is specifically aimed at providing resident committees, finance subcommittees, residents and managers in retirement villages with resources, enabling better understanding of finances in retirement villages.
This program is funded and administered by NSW Fair Trading.
