Places to Love is a collaborative program between the NSW Government and pilot councils to trial demonstration projects that improve walkable access to, and the quality of, local public spaces, particularly in streets and transport hub precincts.

Partial conversion of a Council-owned car park in the centre of Lavington into an active public space that connects Wagga Road to Griffith Road and Lavington Square. The project will include the activation of adjacent Hardware Lane and nearby Gogoll Lane to improve walkability in the area.

Approved for Campbelltown City Council
Council will upgrade the Oxley Street underpass located in Campbelltown CBD, improving pedestrian connections to and between Campbelltown Station, Bradbury Oval and Billabong Parklands. Upgrades will focus on improving the sense of safety, including through lighting and murals at the entrances and interior of the underpass.

Approved for Georges River Council
Council will trial 24h economy interventions in the western portion of the LGA where there typically are fewer activations. Engagement activities to seek community feedback will include screenings of non-traditional Olympic sporting events – skateboarding and breakdancing. The activations will be in close proximity to public transport and active transport connections. Council will deliver additional interventions in summer based on community feedback.
