Program objective
The NSW Government objectives for the grants are to:
- Overcome range anxiety through development of a broad, visible and accessible fast charging network across NSW
- Ensure connectivity between metropolitan and regional areas
- Future-proof the EV charging network past 2030
- Maximise grid support and reduce scope 2 emissions
- Ensure funding supports projects that would not have otherwise happened
This program is administered by Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water.
Eligibility
Who can apply
An applicant be one of the following:
- an entity incorporated under the Corporations Act 2001(Cth)
- a state-owned corporation or subsidiary of an Australian state or territory owned corporation
- a local government or council in NSW
Types of projects funded under this grant
An eligible project is a newly constructed fast and/or ultra-fast charging stations.

Applicants must be eligible to put in a bid for funding. The eligibility requirements for all applicants can be found in the guidelines under table 6 on page 21. Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.
Start the application
Applicants are required to submit set information and documents as part of their bid. All applicants must use the Department’s nominated online grant management system (GMS), SmartyGrants, to submit a bid and all relevant documentation.
Applicants must meet the overall round eligibility requirements and provide detailed site designs and bid proposal details.
Eligible sites will then be competitively assessed based on responses to the merit criteria. The merit of individual charging stations will be assessed and considered alongside the merit of the entire bid in pursuit of the NSW Government’s objectives for this program.

The assessment of bids is carried out by an assessment panel. The assessment panel includes representatives from the Department, other NSW Government departments, expert organisations and independent persons.

- Applicants notified of assessment outcomes
- Department approval
- Assessment panel final recommendation
- Funding agreement execution
