What’s this about?

The energy sector is currently undergoing significant transformation. Digitisation and emerging technologies are providing new products and services and changing the way customers participate in the electricity market.

A key priority for the NSW Government is delivering an energy system that puts the customer at the centre of policy and program design, while delivering an energy system that is affordable, reliable and fulfils commitments made under the Net Zero Plan and the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.

The NSW Government understands there are regulatory and non-regulatory barriers being experienced by customers and industry, delaying the realisation of the full benefits of the transformation of the energy sector. Through this consultation paper, the NSW Government is seeking stakeholder views on a broad range of options to address the identified issues.
