What’s this about?

Bandon Road Corridor is a new 6.5km road linking Windsor Road to Richmond Road through Marsden Park North, Riverstone West, Riverstone and Vineyard precincts.

The Bandon Road Corridor Upgrade and Extension will provide direct access to Richmond Road, improving connections to Marsden Park, creating an additional east-west link, and offering an alternative route that reduces the need to travel through Riverstone town centre.

The Bandon Road Upgrade also proposes to upgrade and extend the existing Bandon Road to a 4-lane divided road, including a new road underpass of the Richmond rail line and bridges across the Eastern Creek floodplain.

The Bandon Road Corridor Upgrade and Extension will support future housing, employment areas and connect communities by providing a road between Richmond and Windsor Roads. It will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, enhance road and rail safety, and provide additional shared cycling and walking paths, supporting growth and improving transport outcomes for the North West.

Key features of the project

• a new 4-lane divided road including a central median to improve road safety and allow for future widening
• an off-road shared path for pedestrians and cyclists
• a new road underpass of the Richmond rail line north of Vineyard Train Station and removal of the existing Bandon Road level rail crossing
• new intersections and a central median to improve road safety
• three new bridges across Marsden Creek, Eastern Creek, and the existing Bandon Road to increase flood resilience
• a new pedestrian bridge from Wallace Road to Riverstone Parade, providing access to Vineyard Station
• changes to the local road network, including realignments and closures of some road sections of existing Bandon Road, Park, Farm, St James and Wallace Roads, O’Connell Street and Riverstone Parade
• two floodplain storage areas that will be excavated to offset road embankments required for Bandon Road and Garfield Road West upgrades
• an upgrade and realignment of the existing flood evacuation route on Wallace and Bandon Roads
• a southern connection road that connects upgraded Bandon Road to Hamilton Street and Riverstone Parade, via Camberwell Road at Vineyard, providing and improved flood evacuation route to Hamilton Street and access to Vineyard Station.
