What’s this about?

The Draft Illawarra-Shoalhaven Regional Transport Plan outlines the strategic framework for how Transport for NSW will respond to changes across the region over the next 20 years.

Over the next 20 years, the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region is expected to change significantly.

  • The region’s population is projected to grow by 100,000 people by 2041.
  • Freight traffic is forecast to grow over the next 40 years to support the regional economy.
  • The importance of the connection between the Illawarra and Western Sydney will continue to grow.
  • The role of the transport sector in supporting a transition to a low emissions economy will increase.

The draft plan identifies many initiatives and outlines the transport policies, initiatives and infrastructure that will be needed to support the growth and development of the region in the future.
