Motor racing events at Mount Panorama

The Office of Sport is seeking your feedback on the proposal to hold 5 events at Mount Panorama between 5 October 2023 to 1 April 2024.
Motor races at Mount Panorama have a rich history, benefiting the local economy, creating jobs, and providing a safe and enjoyable experience for motor sport enthusiasts.
The Motor Sports Events Act 2022 regulates events at Mount Panorama that need the circuit to be completely closed. Under the act, the Minister for Sport is responsible for sending an official request, known as a ministerial order, to Bathurst Regional Council, which owns the venue and manages the roads, inviting them to apply as the event promoter.
Before making the final decision, the Minister asks the public for their opinions by sharing a draft version of the order.
The draft order includes important details such as:
- the location of the event and related activities, with a map attached for reference
- when the event will occur
- the process and deadline for Bathurst Regional Council to submit their application.
Once the Order is completed and the council submits their application, the Office of Sport, as the Government Coordinating Agency, will advise the minister on whether the council should be authorised to organise the proposed events at Mount Panorama. They will also recommend any rules or requirements that should be put in place for the council.
