NSW Electrical and Gas Safety Review

Overview

What’s this about?

Nous Group has been commissioned by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water to conduct an independent review of the NSW Electrical and Gas Safety Regulatory Framework. 

As part of that review, Nous Group has now published an options paper.

The paper:

• explains what the review has learned so far about the main issues with the current framework
• lists the options being considered for shaping the future of the framework.
• details which options Nous prefers, and why (where appropriate).

You are invited to provide feedback on the options paper. The feedback we receive will inform:

• which proposed options are considered
• the development of the final report. 

The final report is expected to be presented to the Minister for Energy and the Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading in October 2026.
