Photo Card Regulation 2024
What’s this about?
The Photo Card Act 2005 authorises and enables Transport to issue a Photo Card to residents over the age of 16. The Photo Card can be used as evidence of the age and identity of the person.
The Photo Card Regulation 2014 (the existing regulation) supports and contains provisions for:
- fees and exemptions
- the surrender and cancellation of photo cards
- change of particulars such as name and address
- use of digital photo cards
- release of information on the Photo Card Register
- release of photographs
- penalty notice offences.
Transport is proposing to remake the regulation subject to a number of minor amendments and is seeking public comment on the draft Photo Card Regulation 2024.
In addition, the attached Regulatory Impact Statement seeks feedback on whether additional changes are required.
