The Geographical Names Board is seeking feedback on a proposal to name a reserve in Wollondilly Local Government Area (LGA) as Trevor Thompson Park.

Trevor Thompson Park is located on 6B Ibbotson Street, Tahmoor, Wollondilly LGA. The proposed name seeks to commemorate the late Trevor Thompson (9/02/1972 – 23/09/2023) to honour his legacy of courage and selfless service to the Wollondilly community.

Trevor served in the Rural Fire Service for 34 years across Tahmoor and Thirlmere, holding key roles including Group Officer for 8 years, Fire Investigator for 16 years, and Captain of Tahmoor Rural Fire Brigade for 5 years. He was an honoured Life Member and mentored the junior investigators.

Trevor's impact on his community went beyond the boundaries of Wollondilly. He played a crucial role in major disasters such as the 2019/2020 Green Wattle fire, the 2016 Picton weather event, and Victoria’s Black Saturday fires in 2009, earning a National Emergency Medal.
