About Aboriginal health

Aboriginal health supports the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal peoples and communities. It is not only about treating illness, but also about staying well and preventing illness.

It supports culturally safe care and strengthens communities across NSW, as we work towards Closing the Gap.

Culturally safe care means respecting Aboriginal culture, values and identity, and involving Aboriginal communities in designing and delivering services.

Clear, trusted health information helps everyone make informed choices about their health.

NSW Health offers Aboriginal health resources and programs to support you and your community.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we work and the places in which we live. We pay respect to Ancestors and Elders past and present. We recognise the unique cultural and spiritual relationship and celebrate the contributions of First Nations peoples to Australia.
