The Arts in Health Program for the new Shellharbour Hospital will create a welcoming and supportive environment for staff, patients and their families.
This important program will deliver several significant artworks in the new hospital.
To help shape the art in the new hospital, the project has engaged Cultural Capital, public art and placemaking specialist. Cultural Capital has delivered a number of major projects at places like Barangaroo and Wynyard Station.
As part of developing the Arts in Health strategy for the new Shellharbour Hospital, Cultural Capital completed comprehensive stakeholder engagement in 2024 consulting with;
• Elders and other representatives from the local Aboriginal community
• Clinicians who will treat patients in the wards/clinics in the new hospital
• Staff representatives from multicultural and Aboriginal communities
• Patients who have received treatment
The arts is an important part of the new Shellharbour Hospital project, supporting the health and wellbeing of staff, consumers and visitors. It also aims to capture stories in artwork with a local lens that can help towards providing cultural safety.
