Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Expansion Stage 2

More than $400 million is being invested in Stage 2 of the redevelopment following completion of Stage 1.

Project information

The Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Expansion Stage 2 project will see Blacktown Hospital transition to a major metropolitan hospital servicing Western Sydney. The project also includes upgrades and the provision of new and increased services at Mount Druitt Hospital.

Scope

The project included: 

Blacktown – Acute Services Building:

• Emergency Department
• Intensive Care Unit
• surgical and interventional services
• Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC)
• endoscopy
• imaging (MRI)
• additional in-centre renal dialysis services
• women’s health, birthing and newborn care
• paediatrics
• ambulatory care.

Mount Druitt Hospital

• drug health (Centre for Opiate Treatment program)
• imaging (MRI)
• increased surgical services
• additional renal dialysis spaces
• additional inpatient bed capacity.
