Early design consultation outcomes report
In late 2025, Health Infrastructure and Southern NSW Local Health District invited staff, stakeholders, and the community to share their ideas and feedback on the design of the Bombala Multipurpose Service (MPS) expansion. Between 23 September and 23 October, around 90 participants contributed valuable insights to help shape a facility that meets the needs of the Bombala community now and into the future.

The Australian and NSW Governments are jointly investing $40 million to deliver the Bombala MPS expansion.
The Bombala MPS was granted $15 million by the NSW Government and $25 million by the Australian Government secured through a grant from the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program which equates to a total funding project of $40 million.
The project team includes Health Infrastructure, Southern NSW Local Health District, APP Group (Project Manager) and Nordon Jago Architects.
The Bombala MPS expansion is currently in the planning/design phase. As part of the project’s planning approval process, a public exhibition of the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will be held in 2026, this will be promoted so all stakeholders have an opportunity to provide feedback.
Current services will remain, planning is underway to minimise disruption during construction. Any changes to service access will be communicated well in advance.
Delegate will remain open. The Bombala MPS expansion is part of an integrated approach to care for Bombala, Delegate, and surrounding communities. The upgrade will strengthen supports for Delegate MPS and provide improved choice and care for both communities.
Health Infrastructure will engage with staff, community members, and stakeholders throughout the planning and design process. Community pop-ups, a survey, and information sessions will be promoted locally.

Residential aged care beds at a Multipurpose Service (MPS) provide a permanent, home-like environment for older community members who need 24/7 support. These beds are for residents who are not hospital patients but require ongoing personal and clinical care, assistance with daily tasks, health services, and lifestyle support all within the same facility that also delivers other community health services.
Bombala MPS currently has 10 residential aged care beds, all of which are occupied.

Yes. Staff accommodation is within the scope of the project and suitable options on and offsite will be investigated to help attract and retain healthcare professionals in the region. The location of staff accommodation will be determined by site conditions and comply with heritage and environmental factors related to topography.
As well as new internal spaces, the design incorporates a landscaped external courtyard including a sensory garden, an area for fitness and mobility activities, multiple areas for outdoor seating designed to encourage exposure to sun and fresh air, and a level walking track.
