The NSW Government has committed $12 million to upgrade Broken Hill Hospital's Emergency Department (ED), which will be reconfigured to better meet the critical health needs of the region and includes tailored treatment spaces for children and those requiring mental health services.
Project information
The project will be delivered in conjunction with the separately funded upgrade to the Broken Hill Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit as part of the Broken Hill Hospital Redevelopment.
Benefits
The project will:
- Offer consumers, their families, carers and staff in the remote region access to the best urgent care available
- Enable tailored treatment spaces, including for children
- Provide patients, families and carers a modern facility to meet the health needs of the community now, and into the future.
Scope
The project includes:
- A full internal refurbishment and reconfiguration of the Emergency Department making it a bigger and more efficient space.
- A new dedicated external entry with a spacious waiting area filled with natural light.
