Central Coast Regional Cancer Centre

This $34.6 million project was jointly funded by the Commonwealth ($28.6 million) and NSW Government ($6 million). The project commenced in late 2010 and was completed in November 2012. This project, particularly its distribution of services across Gosford and Wyong, addressed the projected increase in demand for health services by the residents on the Central Coast. The services addressed current and future requirements of the population and provided appropriate facilities for high quality, responsive and efficient cancer service delivery.

Scope

The project delivered: 

• 3 radiotherapy bunkers featuring thick concrete walls to ensure radiation is contained
• 2 linear accelerators
• radiotherapy planning and support areas
• expansion of chemotherapy treatment spaces from 10 to 15
• patient consultation areas
• waiting and reception spaces
• multi-disciplinary consulting rooms
• cancer patient information and support services for patients, carers and clinicians
• refurbishment of existing space to accommodate multidisciplinary consulting accommodation at Wyong including waiting and reception functions
• a range of associated treatment and planning equipment including one CT scanner.
