Cooma Hospital Redevelopment

The Cooma Hospital Redevelopment has upgraded key facilities to support high-quality healthcare for the Cooma region now and into the future.

The expanded Emergency Department opened in July 2022. It includes more treatment spaces, better equipment and new furniture to support the emergency team.

A new Maternity Department opened in February 2023. It features modern birthing rooms and improved access to the Emergency Department and operating theatres.

In December 2023, a new Ambulatory Care Centre opened. It brings together services such as Community Nursing, Child and Family Health, Podiatry, Medical Specialist Clinics and pathology in one modern space.

The NSW Government invested more than $26.5 million in the redevelopment.

Benefits

The project:

• delivered healthcare services to meet current and future needs
• improved access to emergency, maternity, inpatient and ambulatory care services
• supported local jobs, skill development and spending during construction and beyond.

Scope

The redevelopment included:

• a new ambulatory care centre
• an expanded Emergency Department
• a new maternity department
• relocation of pathology services.
