Project overview
170 Myall St, Dubbo NSW 2830
The new facility has a strong focus on providing care for the Aboriginal and remote populations of the area. The project was funded by COAG under the Sub-Acute Bed Program, and a budget of $9 million was allocated.
The service supports the reintegration of the patient with the community and provides support for families and locally based care. The facility reflects a domestic environment, with individual patient rooms and a strong connection with outdoor areas.
The Mental Health Unit at Dubbo provides rehabilitation and recovery services to adults (aged 16 - 64) with mental health conditions transferring from a hospital setting, for further rehabilitation, and allowing them to better connect with the community and their family before going home.
It also benefits adults requiring a short period of early intervention in a rehabilitation environment, in order to prevent hospitalisation. Construction commenced in November 2011 and was completed in February 2013
