Hornsby Hospital Mental Health Unit

The Hornsby Hospital Mental Health Unit provides increased capacity, a greater range of services, and improved facilities for patients. Construction of the new facility commenced in April 2012 and was completed in July 2013. 

Project information

The Mental Health Unit brings together child, adolescent and adult mental health services and facilities into one location.

It is designed to meet the future service demands and requirements for residents of the Northern Sydney and Central Coast Local Health Districts. As part of the overall works, Building 6 (originally located on the site) was demolished and its existing health services and facilities were relocated to other refurbished and new buildings on campus.

Scope 

The project delivered: 

• new 35 bed adult acute mental health unit
• new 12 bed child and adolescent mental health unit
• staff office and support facilities for both units co-located on an upper floor
• child and adolescent mental health community service
• therapy rooms, family meeting areas, gym facility and courtyards
• 155 car parking spaces on site
• landscaping and signage.
